We’ve got some drama brewing between Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish.
You see, Taylor and Billie used to be tight. Billie even showered Taylor with compliments in interviews, and Taylor returned the favor by praising Billie at this one event a few years back.
They were all about girl power and supporting each other’s success.
But now, things have taken a turn for the worse. Both of them decided to drop albums around the same time this spring, and it’s turned into a messy competition for the top spot on the charts, HeTexted.com reports.
Just when I thought we were finally getting over the Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo drama, a whole new beef emerges.
Oh, and that much-wanted collaboration between Taylor and Billie can be deleted from our minds because their relationship might never be the same anymore.
Braking down the feud between Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish
Back in March 2024, the drama unfolded when Billie decided to call out those musicians who thought it was a brilliant idea to release countless versions of their albums.
She straight-up called it a total waste of resources, and boy, was she not holding back!
According to Billboard, Billie expressed her frustration with these artists who seem to have an insatiable appetite for creating all sorts of vinyl and packaging.
Taylor and Billie
She couldn’t even find the words to describe how wasteful it all is. And let me tell you, she didn’t mince her words.
Naturally, people started pointing fingers at Taylor Swift, the queen of multiple album vinyls.
Reason 1: Multiple Album Editions
It’s no secret that Taylor has a knack for releasing different versions of her albums, but she’s also been criticized for her not-so-environmentally-friendly choices, like hopping on private planes for short trips. Ouch!
“Then it’s some of the biggest artists in the world making fucking 40 different vinyl packages that have a different unique thing just to get you to keep buying more” Eilish said.
Then she continued “It’s so wasteful, and it’s irritating to me that we’re still at a point where you care that much about your numbers and you care that much about making money”.
Every big-shot artist does it these days. Take Dolly Parton, for instance. She’s got 9 different vinyl versions of her 2023 album.
But let’s not forget the queen of this game, Taylor Swift. She’s made a name for herself by being the master of this whole collector’s item gig.
Taylor’s not shy about her obsession with breaking records, leaving a lasting mark, and her constant fear of being replaced by the next big thing.
Just listen to her song “Nothing New” and you’ll get it.
Wait! Billie has also released multiple album editions
It’s kinda of funny how Billie drops different versions too, and then Taylor’s fans start calling her fake. That was just the beginning of the whole drama. Billie then went on to say that releasing variants is a problem across the whole industry.
Reason 2: Taylor ‘sabotaged’ Billie’s album
Swift’s recent album has been dominating the charts since April, thanks to some unique sales tactics. Billie also dropped her album last week, offering 8 different versions.
When Taylor released 2 more versions on the same day, Billie’s fans accused her of trying to sabotage Billie’s chances of hitting #1.
Billie responded by releasing 2 more versions herself, sparking accusations of hypocrisy.
Then, she posted a pic of Kim Kardashian getting a promo package, reigniting her feud with Taylor. The next day, Taylor dropped 3 more versions.
Reason 3: Hours-long concerts are not it
OMG! So, like, Billie spilled the tea in an interview on Stationhead Radio, saying that nobody wants concerts that go on for three hours or more. And guess what?
Swifties totally took it as shade towards Taylor and her epic Eras Tour setlist. But let me tell you, Taylor slays the stage for three and a half hours at her concerts! She’s a true queen!
“Doing a three-hour show… That’s literally psychotic,” Billie said. “Nobody wants that. You guys don’t want that. I don’t want that. I don’t even want that as a fan. Even my favorite artists I’m not trying to hear them for three hours. That’s far too long.” she said.
Reason 4: Billie Eilish’s Manager is liking hate posts about Taylor Swift
Billie’s manager started throwing shade at Taylor on Twitter (which got deleted, but not before Swifties took screenshots).
Eilish’s manager reposted and deleted this tweet/Reddit
Reason 5: This is all marketing for sales
It’s crazy how these musicians and artists think that starting feuds will actually benefit them. They believe that all the drama will lead to more sales and attention, but I’m not buying it.
It’s just a ploy by their marketing teams to create buzz and make both sides look good. And of course, the fans fall for it every time.
But let’s be real, no one in their right mind would want to go up against Taylor Swift. Just look at what happened to her past rivals, their careers were practically destroyed.
Take Billie Eilish for example, she’s on top of the world right now. She’s not about to risk it all by feuding with Taylor.
