I just came across this influencer who’s all about cross-cultural relationships. She’s Vietnamese, and her boyfriend’s German and they’re seriously adorable and hilarious together!
I’ve been binge-watching her shorts, but I’ve also gotten hooked on her longer videos—they’re totally my vibe.
Honestly, I’m such a sucker for a good love story, so I’m all in for any content that’s got romance at its heart!
What really drew me in about Uyen Ninh and her German boyfriend is how she creates all the content and features him regularly, but he never shows his face.
Yet, they’re so adorable together—I absolutely love seeing them pop up on my feed!
What makes her even more relatable is her humor and self-awareness about the struggles she faces living in Germany.
She posts such honest and down-to-earth reels about Vietnam, which really resonate with me.
I also appreciate that her content isn’t centered around fashion or lifestyle, which can sometimes feel superficial.
Instead, she’s just authentically sharing her experience as a Vietnamese woman in Germany, which is so refreshingly genuine.
What really hits home, though, is how she’s opened up about feeling insecure because she doesn’t fit the ‘ideal’ beauty standards in her country, theygossip.com reports.
Uyen and her German fiance
The way her boyfriend supports her and helps her feel more confident in her own skin is just beautiful. I absolutely adore their relationship!
So I figured, why not dive deeper and uncover how it all began between them, what their love story really is?
With all the love stories I’ve been writing lately, I might just end up writing a whole book! Let’s get right into Uyen and her German boyfriend’s relationship!
How It All Began: A Chance Meeting in Hanoi
Uyen and her German boyfriend have a love story that feels like fate and surprise. It all kicked off seven years ago in 2016 when Uyen, just 21 at the time, was living in Hanoi, Vietnam.
She had moved there from another region of the country to pursue her marketing degree at university.
Even though she was cheerful and outgoing, she had never experienced love before.
Meanwhile, her boyfriend was a 28-year-old biology grad, taking a two-month breather before diving into his career.
Unlike in Vietnam, where the pressure to be married with kids and a stable career by that age is immense, his German background allowed him the freedom to focus on his studies without societal pressure.
With his newfound free time, he decided to embark on a solo trip to Southeast Asia, choosing Vietnam and Indonesia as his destinations.
An Unexpected Meeting by the Lake
One evening, everything seemed to fall into place at the iconic Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi.
Uyen, feeling a bit restless and tired of her usual binge-watching of Korean dramas, decided to step out with her friends to practice English with some tourists—something she didn’t usually do.
As luck would have it, her boyfriend was also at the lake that night, wandering around the city after a long day of travel.
He was feeling a bit overwhelmed by the lively vibe of Hanoi and was looking for a breath of fresh air.
Uyen’s friend spotted him, and even though Uyen was hesitant at first, they ended up chatting. What began as a light conversation quickly turned into something deeper.
They spent an hour laughing and sharing stories, but when it was time to part ways, Uyen didn’t give him her contact info.
Even though she sensed a special connection, she didn’t quite grasp its importance at that moment.
Denying Feelings and Going For It
Luckily, her boyfriend had a knack for sensing the chemistry between them. The following day, he got in touch with Uyen’s friends and set up another hangout.
Even though there were seven Vietnamese friends in the mix, the vibe between Uyen and her boyfriend was hard to miss.
They hung out a few more times before he had to leave Hanoi to continue his journey through Vietnam, leaving Uyen wondering if they’d cross paths again.
Good Bye and Hello Long Distance
After a quick catch-up, he set off on his travels again, heading to southern Vietnam, then Bali, and finally making his way back to Germany.
Even though they had a deep connection, it felt like the universe was working against them.
They lived on opposite sides of the world and had totally different ways of life, and neither could just hop on a plane to see the other whenever they wanted.
Still, despite all these hurdles, they both felt that their relationship was truly one of a kind.
They managed to keep a long-distance relationship going for three years between Vietnam and Germany, which eventually led to their engagement.
But it wasn’t all smooth sailing; they faced issues like money troubles, not enough vacation time, and the emotional toll of being apart.
Uyeb hid the relationship from her traditional family for two years because she was worried about how they’d react.
Even with doubts from others, their strong trust and little acts of kindness, like thoughtful gifts, helped them push through the tough times.
During this journey, they tackled the usual insecurities that come with long-distance love, but their constant communication and understanding really brought them closer together.
As of right now, the couple are living their romance in Germany while Uyen has opened social media where she documents her journey with over 2 million followers!!
Oh, and they are getting ready for their weddings!! Yep, they are doing two weddings one in Vietnam and one in Germany!!
