Share

Camila Cabello just blessed us with new music, and yep, the lyrics have people buzzing about one name in particular—Sabrina Carpenter!

So, ICYMI, rumors have been flying left, right, and center about an alleged love triangle involving Camila, Sabrina, and none other than Shawn Mendes.

It’s been a whole rollercoaster, from whispers about Shawn and Sabrina’s short-lived fling to Camila’s reunion with Shawn post-breakup,  theygossip.com reports.

And with all the drama surrounding Sabrina’s music video for “Taste”, Camila just threw some extra fuel on the fire by dropping the “Magic City” deluxe edition of her album “C, XOXO”.

If you thought the original album had “June Gloom” subtly hinting at the Shawn x Sabrina x Camila drama, you’re gonna want to grab your popcorn for this one.

The new track, “Can Friends Kiss”, has everyone convinced it’s a deeper dive into the love triangle saga.

Here’s a quick rewind: Sabrina Carpenter’s mega-hit “Taste” had fans dissecting the lyrics and music video, with many pointing the finger at her rumored fling with Shawn Mendes.

It was giving “spicy love triangle,” and let’s not forget, that Camila and Shawn were together for two years before their split.

And oh yeah, they also had a little reunion at Coachella last year, fueling even more speculation.

Now, with “Can Friends Kiss”, it’s like Camila is putting her own stamp on the story—fans are in full “detective mode,” trying to decode every lyric.

The track has a vibe that makes you go, “Wait, is she talking about Shawn? Sabrina? Both?” The layers, the shade, the mystery. We’re all ears, Camila!

The Song Is 100% About Sabrina Carpenter and Shawn Mendes

Camila Cabello’s song Can Friends Kiss is generating major buzz, especially with lyrics like: “Can friends kiss? Touch each other like this?” and “I don’t like your new girl, she don’t move me / When you talk about her, I get moody.”

The suggestive lyrics explore crossing boundaries in a “friends” relationship, which fans believe mirrors the rumored Shawn Mendes-Sabrina situationship.

Lines like “Go and lock the door / Fall in love with me, I’m bored / We both know I’m yours” could allude to Camila feeling possessive or conflicted about her past with Shawn, further fueling rumors of a potential love triangle.

The timing of this release, being the first since Sabrina’s provocative music drop, makes it all the more interesting.

Analyzing ‘Can Friends Kiss’

One thing is for sure, it is loaded with emotions!! I am talking about temptation, jealousy, sexual tension, desire, and frustration!!

Camila’s ‘Can Friends Kiss’ dives straight into the messy zone of mixing friendship with romantic vibes, asking the question we’ve all wondered: “Can friends kiss? Touch each other like this?”

The whole vibe gives off that tension of wanting something more but not knowing if it’s the right move.

It’s a total rollercoaster of emotions as the song navigates the blurred lines of physical intimacy between friends and the inevitable confusion that comes with it.

The jealousy in the verses  is chef’s kiss, especially when Camila drops, “I don’t like your new girl, she don’t move me / When you talk about her, I get moody.”

It’s giving possessiveness, hinting at some unresolved feelings that could definitely point toward the whole Camila-Shawn-Sabrina drama.

The bridge hits even harder when she sings, “Go and lock the door / Fall in love with me, I’m bored,” throwing in that desire for attention when things get complicated.

It’s like she’s craving that connection, even when it might not be the best idea, and we are here for the drama.

All POVs On The Love Triangle

Till now we have got two POVs on the love triangle and both come from the girls (Sabrina and Camilla), Shawn is yet to make his story unfold and we think he will with his new album which is set to drop on October 18!!!

‘June Gloom’ and ‘Can Friends Kiss’ are Camila Cabello’s views on the love triangle.

In ‘June Gloom’, the song reflects her unresolved feelings toward Shawn Mendes, as she watches him move on with Sabrina Carpenter but can’t shake the bond they once shared.

Lyrics like “Does she get this wet for you, baby?” and “Is it really love if it’s not this crazy?” show that Camila believes their connection is intense and incomparable.

Even though Shawn seems happy with Sabrina, the song suggests he’s still drawn to Camila, leaving her stuck in a passionate yet toxic love cycle.

Sabrina on the other hand, basically the whole Short n’Sweet album is about the love triangle, but if you ask me to be more specific, I’ll list the tracks down below:

  • Taste
  • Coincidence
  • Dumb & Poetic

Before these three tracks, there was another one titled ‘Cindy Lou Who’ that came out and is a reference to the Coachella kiss between Cabello and Mendes!!
